Spartans coast against Illini


Michigan State improved to 5-0 in Big Ten play on late Saturday afternoon with a 73-63 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini.

The Spartans (15-3) shot poorly from three point range (2-12) and committed 16 turnovers but managed to out-rebound Illinois 39-30 while shooting 21-26 (81%) from the charity stripe.

Demetri McCamey led Illinois (12-6) with 15 while Kalin Lucas led all scorers with 20 points for the Spartans. Raymar Morgan added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Michigan State will play Iowa next Wednesday at home.
